José María Álvarez Muñoz is Higher Professor of Orchestra, Choir and Opera Conducting by the Moscow Tchaikovsky Higher Conservatory and Doctor Cum Laude by the Autonomous University of Madrid. It has been specialized in baroque and classical music in the Master Courses in Orchestral Conducting of the International Bachakademie with maestro Helmuth Rilling, in Stuttgart, Moscow and Santiago de Compostela. ANDs Master in Musicology from the Autonomous University of Madrid with Honorable Mention for his TFM “Amateur choral activity as a regenerative tool of classical music” (published by Ediciones Universidad Autónoma).


He has been director and founder of the

Ars Viva Moscow Orchestra

, assistant director of the

Orchestra and Choir of the Moscow Opera Studio and guest conductor of the National Orchestra of Ecuador

on various occasions. In January 2013 he was awarded by the National Assembly of Ecuador with the 'Vicente Rocafuerte' distinction for artistic merit.
