Orchestra direction

Methodology

Based on decades of experience and formal studies in higher conservatories in Russia and Germany, José María Álvarez makes a methodological proposal based on the systematic study of the stylistic and formal aspects of symphonic development throughout the history of music.

It is about providing the student with practical tools (gestural and comprehensive) about the phenomenon of the orchestra as an interpretive sound body. Classes include:

- Gestures.
- Analysis of musical form.
- Harmony.
- Counterpoint.
- Instrumentation.
- Testing technique.
- Study of symphonic repertoire (according to the level of each student).
